Other Holly come in for the mountain-town famous Sorel. These Hunter will definitely keep your feet warm and dry but are also bulky and feel you're carrying around extra weight. Whenever attempting to snowshoe or walk the dog, Sorels can be cumbersome. Hey, never get me incorrect, Sorels are perfect for those deep, damp snow storms, or as a fast wear to go to the store.
Therefore, where am we going with all of this?
Let me introduce for you the Montara boot by Ahnu It is billed as a mid-height, light weight hiker but what i ran across recently was its capability to be the perfect cold weather walk around boot. I haven't worn a mid-height boot in over fifteen years and was skeptical at first, but after 1 day of breaking them in, i am sold. They are completely waterproof making use of their very own breathable material they call eVentâ. Please notice how cool it is to really have the capital V stuck in there. V is for? Ventilation silly. Really, i've no concept, i am just assuming since that is exactly what this fabric liner is about.
Okay, waterproof and breathable, check. They're also very comfortable and have Vibram soles so I don't feel like i'll slip and slide into the parking lots of life. I've been lacing mine up just about every day for dog walks, shoveling, around town, and simply winter wear as a whole. The added advantage is that they are stylish and feminine so you may use them for work, travel, or within the city. You have to think about everything you'll use them for being that they are not insulated like true cold weather boots are, but I've had them out into the snow with warm socks and felt great. If you are looking for a boot to be out all day in a blizzard, these obviously aren't your boots, but as a versatile protective layer for mountain life, i do believe you'll love them.
In conclusion, the Montara boot from Ahnu deserves a 2nd look as an around town wintertime boot. The fantastic bonus is you keep these things to wear into the other three periods aswell. They have a multipurpose flare so you can wear them for a number of life's adventures. Take it from this local; if they were the final boots I had on my feet before the revolution started, I'd be ready to fight (like a girl).
